I woke one morning a few weeks ago with a deep feeling of despair after watching the video of George Floyds murder the previous night before. That hurt and pain turned into anger and rage ! I had no where to direct all this anger and all i wanted to do was burn things down and tear things apart . I ran across a clip of a Stokley Carmichaels speech on police brutality and after listening to it felt not only inspired but empowered. I created The Black Liberation Mixtape because i wanted to share that feeling of empowerment and inspiration. I felt it was crucial to our mental and emotional health during a time where we are seeing and feeling so much negativity . With this mixtape series I also wanted to be able to help organizations in the black community so we will be donating all band camp proceeds to Black Mamas ATX. The organization is a group of everyday women dedicated to an extraordinary movement to save the lives of Black mothers. The Black Mamas Community Collective’s goal is to reduce and ultimately eliminate the alarming maternal mortality and morbidity rates among Black women.
So here it is "The Black Liberation Mixtape"
Thanks for listening.
